At the ordination, Bishop Murphy addressed the congregation and those watching on television saying: “Therefore, dear Friends, with joy and gratitude to God, welcome our brother whom we, Bishops, now admit into our college by the laying on of hands. Revere him as a minister of Christ, a successor of the Apostles, a steward of the mysteries of God. The Lord himself entrusts him to bear witness to the truth of the Gospel and to carry out the ministry of the Spirit, a ministry of justice, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit!”
