Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Rockville Centre honored Mike Breen, ESPN/MSG play-by-play announcer, and Cleveland Bishop Nelson J. Perez and at its 16th Annual Golf Classic on Monday, September 24.

There were 116 golfers and over 160 guests at the reception following the outing at Meadow Brook Club in Jericho.

Breen, who is known as “the voice of the New York Knicks,” and his wife, Rosanne, are parishioners at St. Peter of Alcantara in Port Washington.

“Tonight we thank you for your devotion to our Lord and for the simple and beautiful way that you proclaim and live out our faith,” said Laura Cassell, Catholic Charities CEO. “It is just so cool to recognize you as one of our own here in the Diocese.”

Bishop Perez, who served as an auxiliary bishop of Rockville Centre before he was appointed to lead the Cleveland Diocese in 2017,  was unable to attend due to illness.  “We salute Bishop Perez for the boundless compassion that he showed for those in need through his commitment to Catholic Charities,” said Cassell. “We all knew ‘you rocked’ long before Cleveland did!”
