On Saturday, Jan. 20, the Diocese of Rockville Centre’s Catholic Committee on Scouting hosted its annual Cub Scout Fun & Faith Day, an event designed to increase young scouts’ knowledge and appreciation of Catholic traditions.
This year’s Fun & Faith Day, convened under the theme “Welcome to God’s House,” was held at St. Patrick Church, Smithtown, for Suffolk County-based Scouts and at Sacred Heart Church, North Merrick, for Nassau County Cub Scouts. In total, sixty scouts gathered at the two parishes, where they engaged in faith-focused crafts and learned about the significant features of a Catholic church.
At St. Patrick’s, Msgr. Ray Walden, parish pastor, and Father Frank Zero, diocesan scouting chaplain, concelebrated an early afternoon Mass for the participants. Here is a gallery of images of the day in Smithtown. Photos by Gregory A. Shemitz.
