Rockville Centre -– St. Francis Hospital, The Heart Center®, Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center and St. Charles Hospital — all members of Catholic Health Services (CHS) — have earned a place among the Best Hospitals for 2013–2014, as ranked by U.S. News & World Report. In addition, CHS’s Our Lady of Consolation and St. Catherine of Siena were recognized as among the Best Nursing Homes in the nation.

Once again rated the number one hospital on Long Island, St. Francis is ranked by U.S. News & World Report in the top 10 in the entire nation at #8 for cardiology and heart surgery —- the only Long Island hospital to achieve this -— as well as among the best in the U.S. for seven other specialties: ear, nose and throat; gastroenterology and GI surgery; geriatrics; neurology and neurosurgery; orthopedics; pulmonology; and urology — twice as many as last year. The Roslyn hospital was also recognized as high performing regionally in three specialties: cancer; diabetes and endocrinology; and nephrology. This is the seventh consecutive year that St. Francis has been listed among the Best Hospitals.

Good Samaritan and St. Charles hospitals earned regional honors, as well: Good Samaritan was ranked in the top 10 Long Island hospitals and was recognized for cancer; gastroenterology and GI surgery; geriatrics; gynecology; neurology and neurosurgery; orthopedics; pulmonology; and urology, and St. Charles, in Port Jefferson, ranked regionally as high performing in orthopedics. Our Lady of Consolation and St. Catherine of Siena earned a place among the Best Nursing Homes in the U.S. in recognition of the five stars they received from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services for overall performance.
