In an effort to remain connected with their parishioners during the COVID-19 pandemic, clergy at a number of parishes throughout the Diocese of Rockville Centre are going into their communities to offer “house blessings.” This brief ritual typically involves a priest or deacon visiting homes of parish members, whom they pray for and bless from the sidewalk or driveway while maintaining social distancing. On Friday, May 1, the Long Island Catholic joined Father Felix Akpabio of St. John the Evangelist Parish, Center Moriches, as he imparted blessings on parishioners residing at a 55 and over community.
