Father Michael Duffy arrived at St. Agnes Cathedral, Rockville Centre, Aug. 26, becoming the eighth rector in the history of the 85-year-old church. Ordained in 2012, Father Duffy ministered the past three years as pastor at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish, Malverne. At St. Agnes, he succeeds Msgr. William Koenig, who has been appointed by Bishop John Barres as the diocese’s vicar for clergy personnel. At age 35, Father Duffy is the cathedral’s youngest rector.

Father Duffy introduced himself to his parishioners during the Aug. 29-30 weekend Masses at St. Agnes. In addition to celebrating Masses on Saturday and Sunday evenings, he also concelebrated and served as homilist during Bishop Barres’ 11 a.m. Mass on Aug. 30.

Father Duffy will be formally installed as rector at the 11 a.m. Mass on October 25.
