ROCKVILLE CENTRE  On the Feast of the Annunciation, March 25,   at 2 p.m. Bishop William Murphy will ordain Msgr. Andrzej Jerzy Zglejszewski, as auxiliary bishop for the Diocese of Rockville Centre, at a Mass of Episcopal Ordination at the  Cathedral of Saint Agnes here.

The Episcopal Ordination is a ticket-only event but everyone can watch the celebration on Telecare, the diocesan television station (Cablevision Channel 29/137 and Verizon FiOS TV Channel 296)  live at 2 p.m.  and rebroadcast at 7 p.m.  The ordination can also be seen live streaming on http://www.telecaretv.org/.

Bishop-Elect Zglejszewski, 52, was born in Czarna Biarostocta, Poland.  The son of Tadeusz and Anna Zglejszewski, Andrzej studied philosophy and theology in Bialystok before coming to the United States in 1987.  Bishop-elect Zglejszewski completed his studies for the priesthood at the Seminary of the Immaculate Conception, Huntington.  He was ordained a priest of the Diocese of Rockville Centre by Bishop John R. McGann on May 26, 1990.  After his ordination, Bishop-Elect Zglejszewski served as an associate pastor at Saint Christopher, Baldwin (1990-1995),  Saint Thomas the Apostle, West Hempstead (1995-2003) and Saint Rose of Lima, Massapequa (2003-2007).  In 2007, he was appointed director of the Diocesan Office of Worship and, in 2012, he was appointed co-chancellor, Diocese of Rockville Centre.

As Auxiliary Bishop, Bishop-Elect Zglejszewski will join Auxiliary Bishop Nelson Perez and  Bishop Robert Brennan, Vicar General and Moderator of the Curia of the Diocese.

Bishop Zglejszewski  serve as  be Vicar of the Western Vicariate with residence to be determined.  He will also serve as Vicar for Liturgy and Worship of the Diocese of Rockville Centre.

Bishop Brennan will continue as Vicar General and Moderator of the Curia of the Diocese, with residence at the Parish of Our Lady of Peace, Lynbrook.  Bishop Nelson Perez will continue as Vicar of the Eastern Vicariate with residence at the Parish of Saint Isidore, Riverhead.  In addition, he remains as Vicar for the Hispanic Apostolate of the Diocese of Rockville Centre.

Msgr. James McNamara  will continue to serve as Vicar of the Central Vicariate and  as Pastor in residence at the Parish of Our Lady of Miraculous Medal, Point Lookout.
