At the end of January, parishioners from St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church and families and students from Our Lady Queen of the Apostles Regional Catholic School entered the Center Moriches church building for the first time since the tragic acts of violence that took place there in May of 2017. (The building suffered extensive damage when a man started a fire in the church before eventually taking his own life.) Groups gathered for prayer and then had the chance to sign the beams and bare walls of the Church and place prayer cards and messages. The parish continues to pray and work to “rebuild…repair…and restore” (Isaiah 58:12) the Church building with hopes for a spring completion date.
