One of the most anticipated days for middle school students in Long Island’s Catholic elementary schools is Technology Day, an event that combines school work and amusement park rides. Technology Day, held at Adventureland in Farmingdale, gives students the chance to see the the lessons they learn in class working in the real world. STEM education brings the concepts of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math together to show how they work in unison ‘underneath’ the things that touch our lives every day. Participating students receive a workbook and have to describe the operation of a list of rides. To answer the workbook questions the students must understand the way the ride was engineered, the physical forces at work and the supporting technology that brings it all together.  See below for a gallery of photos by Gregory A.
