Our Church mourns the terrible suffering of Christians and other victims of violence, especially in the Middle East.

Our Christian brothers and sisters and other innocent victims of the violence in the Middle East urgently need the assistance of the Catholic community of the United States.

Our Diocese joins in this effort by asking for a Special Collection for the Middle East on the weekend of September 27-28, 2014 and by setting aside a day of prayer and fasting on October 4, 2014.

The Diocese of Rockville Centre has already sent more than $150,000 to help the local Caritas organizations in Iraq and Jordan to assist in the care of refugees.  We receive regular updates from the local Church leaders and these organization and these are posted on our diocesan website.
