Catechetical Congress 2014 is only a few short days away and approximately 700 people have registered with openings for more to participate in the day’s activities and celebrations.

The Diocesan Catechetical Congress which will be held on Saturday, September 20th from 8:30-5:00 p.m at St. John the Baptist High School, West Islip, and is being coordinated by the Office of Faith Formation. Congress 2014 promises to be day well worth attending for all involved in catechetical ministry.

The keynote speaker, Father Theo Trujillo, will offer insights and share his experiences as a pastor in a multicultural parish while challenging us to consider how we may further become a missionary disciple in today’s challenging times.

There are a wide variety of workshops being offered in both English and Spanish to learn different ways to reach out and teach children, youth and adults on topics such as Social Justice, Creative Catechesis, RCIA, Baptism Preparation and many more.

Publisher’s exhibits, vendor tables and information tables will be there to enhance the Congress experience.

The day will close with Mass celebrated by Bishop Murphy, who will offer a special blessing to all catechists as together as a family of faith we celebrate Catechetical Sunday.

The day will be a wonderful opportunity for renewal, formation, fellowship in our Diocese. Please join us.
