At the end of June and the beginning of July there will be, as usual, some changes in pastors of some of the parishes of the diocese. This is the normal routine and I am very blessed to have the Priests’ Personnel Assignment Board who meets with me and makes very sound recommendations for each of the open parishes after we have heard from the people and been briefed by the Vicar for Clergy. This weekend in the respective parishes the following announcements have been made:
Msgr. Gerald Ringenback from pastor at St. Bernard, Levittown, to pastor of Good Shepherd Parish in Holbrook; Msgr. Ralph Sommer from pastor at St. Brigid, Westbury to pastor of St. Bernard, Levittown; Father Anthony Stanganelli from pastor at Ss. Philip and James in St. James, to pastor of St. Brigid, Westbury; and Msgr. James McNamara from pastor of Holy Cross, Nesconset, to pastor of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal, Point Lookout, where he will replace retiring pastor, Father Patrick Callan. In addition, Msgr. McNamara has accepted my request that he assist the auxiliary bishops in their pastoral care of the Episcopal Vicariates. Please pray for these good priests and, in this Year of Faith, make their appointments a moment for all of us to thank God for the extraordinary priests of our Diocese.
