In what has been an annual tradition for the past 15 years, seniors at St. John the Baptist Diocesan High School, West Islip, kicked off their final year at the school with a “welcome back” barbecue on the evening of Sept. 3. The event, hosted by the school’s administration, gives seniors an opportunity to reconnect with their classmates in a casual setting two days before the start of classes. In addition to enjoying franks, burgers and other snacks, seniors received their new first-floor locker assignments.  Earlier in the evening, the dean of students presented a driving seminar to those students who wish to obtain a parking permit for the school lot. St. John the Baptist has 425 seniors in a student body of 1,670.
