Student members of the Trinity Leadership Corps (TLC) at Trinity Regional School in East Northport dedicated this past school year to helping those both near and far.

Close to home, they planted a garden at the school with both flowers and vegetables. They harvested lettuce and tomatoes to share with neighbors in need, gathering to make salad for Project Hope in Huntington Station.

Throughout the year, the students also organized fundraisers to help build a well in South Sudan.  At the end of the year, the students received their wish and were able to see the outcome of their efforts — a well was built at the soccer field near Wau, South Sudan. This location was meaningful as many of Trinity’s students play soccer and the soccer program near Wau is one way of building community in the once war-torn region.

Jeanne Morcone is the principal of Trinity Regional School. Kate Renz and Kevin Hansen are the moderators of TLC.
